Korean Beef w/ Rice

Bee's Baking - Korean Beef with RiceAdapted from Six Sisters’ Stuff


500g beef mince
100g (~½ cup) brown sugar
¼ cup (60ml) soy sauce
1 tablespoon (20ml) sesame oil
3 cloves garlic (~15g), minced
¼ ground ginger
½-1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Salt and pepper, to taste
Bunch of green onions, chopped
100g-150g vegetables (optional – here ½ a carrot and ½ a head of broccoli were used)
250g (raw weight, ~2 cups) jasmine rice, cooked to serve


1. Heat sesame oil in a large pan, then add garlic, vegetables (if using) and meat
2. Cook until meat has browned, then drain the fat
3. Return to heat and add soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper
4. Simmer for ~5 minutes until flavours are blended and sauce has thickened
5. Serve over rice with green onions
